On the 'shallow end' of the conversation pool, this 'group' is for a variety of publicly read topics to encourage men to participate in MENtrepreneurs, and then move into specific 'Facilitated' Groups.

 | Daniel Comp Bill Sharman passed on this Valueshine article worth looking at. it's a very interesting business model for us (and you) to consider as a strategy for your enterprise.

 | Will Williams The riverboxes.com website is getting closer to completion. We still have to take some photos of our finished product to update our shopping cart and we'll be ready to go on-line (hopefully by the end of the month in anticipation of Christmas gifts). My thoughts are to ask professional guides to 'advertise' their content (YouTube videos, articles, endorsements, etc.) for a defined period of time. In turn they endorse our boxes, have their content published, and ultimately sell more Riverboxes. How would you promote the sale of more Riverboxes in that arrangement? I will set up a new Topic called "Marketing to Fishing Guides" and hope to see if there are other ideas on how to create this website/guide relationship. Thanks for any help. about 2 years ago | | |

 | Dick Rosen I've been reading up on Business Plans and PPM's. I've come accross PPM.net which appears to be offering exactly the services I'm looking for. I haven't yet taken advantage of their free consultation and quote but when I do I expect they will cost something well outsidew of my budget. Any referrals or ideas regarding PPM's? I have a handful of people standing buy with funds to invest but I wouldn't feel confident in accepting the funds until I've defined a plan, in writing. about 2 years ago | | - Show all 10 comments
Daniel CompBusiness plans... ahhh what a pile of homework they are. I've worked in/around economic agencies (SBA,SBDC,SCORE, RC&D, etc) for quite a bit, and the 'plan' is required to get the money, but is almost never responsible for the enterprise succeeding. On the other hand, building your team (NOT going into it alone) reverses the mortality rates (measured at 5 years) from 56% default to less than 7%.
Have you been to your local agencies with regard to the plan?
Neil LichtI have written business plans before. One key is how you define very specific objects-what you want to be the result from your actions and work. Don't spend anything yet Lets talk a bit and I think I can help you define that with few questions. I think we can then work through what is needed to make this happen. Be very honestin doing this and pick only 1-2 top level objectives from which we can then draw up a plan to get you thero. Note and objective is not "To Make Money in REal Estate"
Get way deeper than that and narrow down how you want to do that. WE can then toss around the how to's and what to do's together that can get you there along with timing, steps, needed cash at each level, what to use it for etc.
Jack Lewitz is a guru on the real estate side as well and a great contact for advice on the nuts and bolts of the process and focus you may need.
Call me - Neil Licht 508-481-8567 (skype call video as well) so we can take a closer look on these issues and directions together.
Dick RosenDaniel, yes I strongly agree about the "Team", this has been a weak point of mine because I was brought up in other peoples businesses whereas I was a part of their team and never really realized the importance of the tream until I went without for a couple of years. I do have some predefined positions within my team, some have been filled some are being considered and yet others are still open.
Regarding Business Plans and PPM's I have contacted several different local attorney's, CPA's and peers in the business. 1 of the 4 attorney's did not even respond, 2 others responded that they new what I was looking for but not experinced in that area and the 4th seemed very knowledgable about the topic but admitted that he would farm it out to someone else. The CPA's agreed with my intent but had no idea as to getting it done. It was at this point that I resorted to the services of Google.
Are you referring to any local agencies that I may be overlooking?
Neil, I have a couple of meetings in the morning but I will try to call you in the afternoon.
Daniel CompI was thinking of your local SBA, SBDC, SCORE etc... Here's a map/finder: SBDC Map
Daniel CompCareful though... the SCORE AND THE SBDCs are 'recruiting' arms for the SBA loan program. You'll need to go into the process with 'eye's open'
Dick RosenThanks for the tip, as it turns out there is an SBDC office right in my town. I will be contacting them on Monday but I don't belive that's the route to go. I wouldn't be an entreprenuer if I didn't try... right
I am still convinced that the ultimate way to finance my business is through private lenders and due to all the new legislature coming in and making it more difficult, the PPM is the only safe way to use private lenders.
Daniel CompThere might be a score counselor they can refer you to with a background in what you need. On the other hand, you likely already have most of the answer.
Question; on a 'perfect' business day, which do you love to deal with the most - production, marketing or finance?
Dick RosenOn a perfect business day... I will have spent the majority of my time working deals with other investors, talking to sellers and buyers. I'm not sure what that would be called but I guess I would call it marketing, could almost e called a form of "social marketing".
Daniel CompWhat Is the 'product/service' portion of your business, versus the 'marketing/sales' portion? The to seem very closely defined (from my perspective) and yet most men would 'hide' in one or the other when the going gets rough. What leg of business do you find yourself 'hiding' in from time-to-time?
