Beginning in the Middle
All stories have a beginning. Entrepreneurial Schizophrenia® seems to be starting in the middle.
Let me explain:
I've just come back from the middle of three Trans-America expeditions. These are solo, self-supported, Trans-America cycling events where I have ridden from coast-to-coast. 2005 was Seattle to New York City. In 2006, the intention was to ride from the Golden Gate to the White House.
All along the way, I planned on recording Entrepreneurial Schizophrenia®. Unfortunately, the weather prohibited getting through some of the passes, as they were still under numerous feet of snow. I had snow flurries during the day and 20 degree weather at night. I had a 45 degree sleeping bag and wore everything I carried - and still couldn't get warm unless I was peddling up a mountain or taking a hot shower at a KOA.
Somewhere in the middle of Nevada, I realized that I needed to have a good 'talkin' with my boss. I and he, being self-employed, we decided to be gracious and give me the time-off to return to the studio to record.
So, here I am - my boss and I - in agreement that the greatest thing that I need to be doing with my time is investing it to the greatest service of the largest number of people. And, rather than simply riding across the country so that I can have something spectacular and entertaining to boast about, I’ll have a memoir to share which is from the depths of my heart - my experiences in life and business - for you to pick through to see which ones apply, and which ones you can glean principles from, to add to your journey as an entrepreneur - so that you don’t go crazy in the process of fulfilling your destiny by blessing those in your family and in your sphere of influence and in your community.
"I count him braver who overcomes his desires than him who conquers his enemies; for the hardest victory is the victory over self."
Aristotle
So... here we are making a proper written introduction to Entrepreneurial Schizophrenia®, following the ten hour audio set and workshop series.
Throughout this set of topics, you'll find things that will stick like well cooked pasta on a wall. These are lessons, ideas and beliefs that I have - that have NOT been medically proven to be a cure for imagined or authentic schizophrenia, but they are certainly tools that you can employ to keep from thinking that your crazy - and to stick to your dream and your passion long enough to see it come to fruition. After all, persevering will cost you greatly, as it has all the great people of history, because it's a matter of faith - believing in something you don't yet see while those around you shake their heads.
What I want to do through this series is to empower you with some of my life lessons so that you don’t have to go down those roads, and alleys, and tangents yourself. You can learn from me and hopefully make a quicker path to your destination and your destiny.
Let's get going with Entrepreneurial Schizophrenia®.
